I am wanting to apply as a playtester at some local development companies, but am unsure about a few things... Do companies want only people with experience / some sort of education? Do they pay for the privilege? Just wanted to get some info before making a jackass of myself :) Any input would be appreciated, thank you.

I know that EA in Florida pays 8 an hour for play testing, however, I dont know what the reqs are for getting in.

Testing differs from company to company. Some have in house testing, some have the publishers test it, and others have third parties help out with it. Some testing positions will require some sort of experience or knowledge, and others can be filled by anyone.

Often you get paid for it, but there's probably unpaid internship possibilities. You'll just have to find out from each company how they do things.
