Hi all, I am working on network base game. One of the system on the network hold object libraries in the database (SQL server). But i have not seen any database (SQL ,excess etc) in the professional games. Can anybody let me know that how the database is stored in games i.e which file format, is there any efficient way of storing data in the games.

Online games, or single player games?

MMORPGs and suchlike use normal SQL servers, but the clients don't ever connect to them directly (That would be an extremely bad idea). Single player games have no need for databases.

Also: This should probably be in Game Programming...

I was going to write a book on Database Programming for Games, but I got sick of writing and didn't write it.
