I am building a freelance game and I'm having a lag problem. I want to figure out where it's coming from (what functions are taking up the most time). Are the programs out there for this? (Possibly free.)

Google for profilers and packet sniffers.

AMD CodeAnalyst is a very good profiler. Check it out.

BTW, K: packet sniffers? why?

A code profiler is what you want. I'd recommend Compuware's

I downloaded the AMD one, but when I run the application with the CA toolbar it brings up a window saying there was an error and to choose a debugger... if I run it in the VS debugger it works fine.... any ideas?
