For some reason when I load up this .3ds I get some weird aliasing, maybe even clipping problem. Anyone know what might cause behavior like this? http://filebox.vt.edu/users/rengle/stuff/aliasing.jpg Thanks in advance

It looks like you either 1) have some coplanar surfaces which introduces z-fighting, or 2) your near clipping plane isn't > 0, or 3) your far clipping plane is >>>>> your near one. So, to test: 1) Does the model load correctly in other environments? 2) and 3) What are your near and far clipping plane values?

The near and far clipping planes are fine, the near is 0.1 and the far is like 20000 cause I have a pretty big scene. As far as z-fighting. That was my guess as well. Interestingly though, it only really looks like that when I have my lighting turned on. If I turn off lighting and have the faces white then there's no aliasing and I also implemented a little function to calculate the color based on the angle from the camera and that creates some pretty decent shades of gray which don't really look like that. I plan on using lightmaps for all the surfaces anyway so maybe that'll solve the problem. I was just wondering if I may have accidentally set something to make it look like that.

Ok well I think I've figured out the problem. The problem is that the model I'm using basically have front and back faces and even some tiny faces in between the front and back like the sides. So it looks like the problem is a clipping problem. Is there a way to set the clipping distance. For example, I'm pretty sure the faces are really really close together but the one is bleeding through the other, is there a way to set it so the clipping distance is really really close and it won't bleed through?
