Team name: 1D Productions (a division of Blueprint Games) Project name: MyRPG Engine/The Realms of Keldar Game Brief description: The Realms of Keldar is a 2D fantasy RPG, similar in theme to the old style Final Fantasy and Zelda games, but with more complex game play and a modern advanced battle system. We aim to complete the MyRPG Engine, off which the game will be built, first. It is currently at a late alpha (almost beta) stage of development, and it supports the following: DONE: -Scrollable tiled maps (smooth, pixel-perfect collision). -Music (OGG) & sound playback and control. -Advanced .NET scripting system (in development still). -User-friendly "World Creator" (in development still, but much is complete). -In-game dialog/conversation. -Character/enemy path-finding. -Much more, especially behind the scenes... TO DO: -Support for interactive geographical map of game world. -AI for NPCs (inc. enemies). -Design of "compiled" game world format (easy integration has been planned for). -Interactive 3D world map. -Much more... POSSIBLE FUTURE FEATURES: -Multiplayer online/networking server and client capability. -Release version for XBox 360. (Focus is on a great fame for Windows primarily, but if there is popular demand for an XBox 360 version in the future, it will be considered.) -Anything else that you'd like to suggest - honestly! With your help we are hoping to complete this and start on the game shortly. At least one, and most likely two very talented artists are waiting to help with this, but we would welcome 1 or 2 more. Target aim: Freeware, or Licensed/Shareware if beta is successful. Compensation: None, but if eventually successful a significant percentage of potential revenue will be given. Technology: -.NET 2.0 (VB.NET primarily, but C# coders are welcome) -XNA Framework 1.0 -Windows XP/Windows Vista Talent needed: -3D DirectX/XNA coder - either C# or VB is fine. You will be working on an interactive 3D geometrical map to incorporate into the main game engine, but you will be working on a separate project by yourself with advice from the leader/artist for the moment. -2D Pixel Artists (please be available to show or quickly produce some demo art). If you have not done this style of art before, but are interested in working on it, please contact us via one of the given methods. Team structure: -Me (Lead Programmer) -Nick (Designer/Storywriter) -Keifer (Artist/Beta Tester) [Several new members pending...] Admittedly this is not yet a very big team, and there will not frequent communication between artists and story writer until engine is near completion. However, we are really hoping to bring this team alive again with your help, since development is excelling at the moment! Website: Main website - Blueprint Games Forums - Blueprint Games Forums 1D Productions - 1D Prodcutions Contacts: PM: alex_myrpg (Click the PM button at the bottom of this post.) Email: alexreg-at-gmail.com (replace -at- with @) MSN: myrpg-at-hotmail.com (replace -at- with @) If you only have a brief question, please reply to this thread. For longer and more detailed enquiries, please use any of the other methods. Previous Work by Team: Some very fun little games that are completed, or near completion (by 1DP), can be found HERE! Additional Info: Design (inc. Art & Music) You can take a brief look at the storyline on the 1DP site, given above, but the full storyline and GDD (Game Design Document) are very large files either stored as files or on forums threads on our site. An list of all required character/pixel art is also available and I will be happy to send it to any artists that are potentially interested. I have some music already composed for the game, but it is quite old and does not suit the style of the game. I can provide you with this unused music, or any description/info that you would like to get a feel for the music needed. Brief summary of storyline for The Realms of Keldar game The story takes place in a world known as Keldar. Six decades prior to the current day, a man named Elre'yk discovered a mystical energy that was tied to Keldar and it's inhabitants. No other man in Keldar had ever before perceived this energy. At first he could do little else than feel its presence, but he shortly discovered that focused concentration allowed him to manipulate it. The mystical energy quickly came to be known as magic by the people of Keldar who watched in utter amazement as Elre'yk displayed small cantrips of colors. After nearly a decade of secretive studies that taught him the unknown proficiencies of these energies, Elre'yk revealed many books that explained how they could be perceived and manipulated through gestures, thoughts, concentration, and practice. Along with the release of his books, which were quickly transcribed and spread throughout the realm, Elre'yk crafted nine tablets. Each of these thick books contained a magical link to one of the nine regions within Keldar. By possessing them, Elre'yk was able to protect Keldar and it's people just by casting spells on them and allowing the power of the tablets to channel the energies to the proper destinations. The magical awakening brought on limitless variations on the proficiencies that Elre'yk had discovered, and a few magical prodigies along with Elre'yk began nurturing Keldar in ways never before believed possible. This golden age spawned new technologies, expansions, and sciences. To encourage further progress of Keldar, Elre'yk founded the Keldar Magic Guild where he and eight of his best disciples studied magic, promoted the magical growth of Keldar, and acted as the guardians of the realm tablets. The guild prospered for over four decades, but when disaster struck, it struck hard. An unknown faction of magicians with the mark of Slai stormed the guild and attacked its members. Very few of the agressors survived, but the six that did each managed to escape with a realm tablet. There are now six regions that are no longer under the guild's control and a war for Inner Keldar (the three realms that Elre'yk and his guild controls) has been underway for the last five years. Each realm is relentless in its attacks against Inner Keldar, summoning beasts to attack its inhabitants. They all seem to be attacking Inner Keldar to keept it at bay from striking back. They are still in good shape, but are constantly forced to ward off enemies and magical beasts. Screenshots of engine demo (from 2 versions ago) Screenshots of World Creator Feedback: Anything appropriate, but recruitment applications are priority. If you have a serious interest in joining the team and would like more information, please contact me using one of the methods specified above. [Edited by - alex_myrpg on June 17, 2007 11:13:23 AM]

Thanks for the support... and yeah I wasn't specifically advertising it but I would be happy to have a .NET coder on my team (you know any VB.NET btw?) - C# is fine though. After all, it's currently only me working on the code. Just add me on MSN/Jabber or send me an email and I'll be glad to discuss things.

No I don't actually know any VB.NET. I'm still developing my C# and XNA skills right now, and VB has always been sort of an afterthought. I added you to MSN, I'm f4nt@provinggrounds.com on MSN, so I'll catch up with you there eventually I'm sure.

Any interest from artists at all?... I'll be happy to send any potential members the Art List so they can see what sort of work it will involve.

Hey man , responding back to your message. I would be more than happy to work on your project as a Sound Artist. What I can tel you is that I can make your game have beautiful background music but if your looking for sound effects your out of luck if you are relying on me. But my background music will make up for that!

Hey, that's no problem. I'll be glad to have another music composer still! There's currently one active on the team - he's working on his second composition, but 2 is a good number... that way we can pick and organise the appropriate tracks for each map level. :) Just contact me by any of the methods above and we'll chat more.
