Hi, I would like to know if somenone has infos about 3d texturing. I mean I have a model & some textures (for example sand, rocks & snow) & I would like to mix them according to the height of the terrain. Sand at the bottom, snow at the top and rocks in the middle with gradient between the textures Thanks

One possible way is to divide your terrain mesh on 3 parts and then use a flat texture mapping to apply these sand, rock & snow textures to each part of the mesh….

...or you choose another way, and even make a "3-dimensional" texture...of course, the third dimension is rasterized like the other two...but mapping such texture onto your terrain mustn''t happen realtime, of course, so a little program doing so that maybe generates some "optimal" in-between textures or insert some vertices where it would fit best for the textures...it''s all really straightforward. I think there''s even an article on gamasutra describing an approach to generating landscapes randomly (and attaching the right textures...)
