really slow

Yep, the same here ! More than 40 seconds to load only ONE page. It's the slowest website I've never seen, so bad because it's also one of the best :p. But I think it was not as slow as those days before, but since some weeks it's really really really slow...

out with the 500 errors, in with the turtle speed!

But yea I've noticed a dramatic slowdown as well.

Try disabling &#106avascripts. That worked for me.

Supposedly there's a specific file that causes the slowdown (http://www.gamedev.net/banman/a.aspx). In IE this takes forever to load for me - but in Opera it loads instantly.

This might also be related to the reason that I can't see any ads whatsoever in Opera.

In Safari, GameDev has also been taking an extremely long amount of time to load the past couple days also. I was just thinking it was my connection.

Yeah, this is - once again - our ad-serving software slowing everything else down. I'm not sure why it's happening but I've contacted the software vendor for help.

I adblocked this page and now it's fast again.. Ads suck :p

I've made some changes to the site configuration. Does it seem any better?

It's great not to have to wait for almost a minute to open a page any more :)

It was better this morning (UK time), but it seems to have become slow again in the past few hours...

Grabbed AdBlock for firefox and added that file to the list. It took care of the problem. It was moving at a crawl, coulnt even load a page in under 5 minutes. Now its lightening speed.

Ditto, for a good week now it's been taking roughly a minute to load a page. Using adblock fixed that. Thanks!

Hopefully this is resolved soon, so new users aren't discouraged. I know I'd think twice about a forum that's so slow. Certainly I wouldn't bother to take the time to look for a solution like this, I'd just go elsewhere.

Out of interest, can you see the ads from your machine (running Opera)? This is a new machine since I last mentioned it to you, and so a fresh installation of Opera 9. a.aspx returns a 0-byte response (instantly). The ads appear in every other browser. I don't use any ad blocking system.
