Ok, firstly I know this community is mainly Progamming coding and game oriented, but I've trolled and posted and read a lot of threads that regarded help of all kinds. this community is one of the smartest on the web. so hopefully after that small ego stroking you'll help me out with something. I have a Scanner with the error of 49.FF04 This is a very unhelpful and generic error. Essentially is means OMFGWTFBBQ? in printer/scanner talk. Model: HP 9200c Attempted fixes: Cold Reset (resets device to factory specs.) Communication with printer was cut off the second error started. Have only been able to access scanner via physical control panel. Since there is no network connection I was unable to attempt a firmware upgrade. Scanner starts up blinks it;s 3 LED's in order and happily displays "HP" in that oh so professional way. then in that puppy dog fashion, it then goes to innocently shit the bed and display that error (49.FF04). I am able to access options in the pre-boot menu by holding down 6. thus I was able to attempt a cold reset. but that has had no effect. I'm stumped and I want to try every option I have before we attempt to replace the HDD which was suggested as a possible fix.

I googled a bit and found this. Seems to me like you should contact HP and see if they can fix it for you.

So, heres the current situation.

I've taken another scanner of the exact same model and shotgunned it for parts. know that the good scanner works all of it's parts had to to work, I figured the flash drive or the hard drive for be the problem but it wasn't until I took the formatter board itself out that I got the scanner to work. this part costs 700 dollars, if there any chance I can fix this board without replacing it?

not sure what else to do to fix it :/

So... you sign up to a game development board to ask questions about your broken HP Scanner. Sounds like the right thing to do when your scanner explodes, instead of calling up HP and asking them what to do.

I hate to be rude, but you came to a GAME DEVELOPERS BOARD. We develop games, or at least try to. We're not here to troubleshoot your broken hardware and help you fix it. No, hardware vendors hire people to do this for you. These people are called "The Helpdesk", and if they fail to help you, they can give you the chance to send in your product to be trouble shooted by "A Technician", which will attempt to repair it or replace(When still under warranty).

I'm stumped you haven't been given the normal treatment people on GDNet get when asking for hardware questions as first post: Post closed.
