Microsoft censors its DirectX forums!

Original Post
Midway through a discussion/debate about DirectX and XNA, it seems Microsoft MVP "The ZMan" has taken it upon himself to "Lock out" discussion that he sees as "getting personal". https://forums.xna.com/thread/8245.aspx After adding a new thread commenting on the Censorship of DirectX debate, I had my thread immediately deleted. It seems you can't question Microsofts motives regarding the future of DirectX and XNA and the relationship between them. Just thought people would like to know that Microsoft supports censorship of debate. This may be the only place left to actually discuss DirectX, as it appears now that the MSDN forums for it have died, and no one is adding new threads on the forums.xna.com site. Freedom of speech, only if you kiss the XNA ass. Sad. Take a look at the reason: Your post was deleted by The ZManiac. Subject: Censorship of debate??? Reason: Becuase its not discussion when people say things like "Maybe you should learn assembly and then re-learn C and realize the difference between low level and high level languages." I've moderated this and the MSDN forums for many years and I know what comes next. Yes I'm deleting this thread too - the forums are not for discussing moderation either. Your original thread was answered and the rest of the discussion wasn't on topic for that subject anyway. Nobody from Microsoft was listening and it was just the 3 of us going backwards and forwards on things which we obviously all disagree on. And its not censorship... these are MS forums and they prefer to avoid argumentative posts. If you have an opinion please feel free to blog it. I've linked your post in the moderator forums - if the other mods or Microsoft disagree with me then they will reopen the thread. Andy (zman@thezbuffer.com if you want to continue offline from the forums) Thanks, team He even suggested earlier sending comments to directx@microsoft.com, and I've never gotten a reply. Good job Microsoft. OpenGL is looking better and better everyday. And to think I've been a loyal supporter since WinG and the Game SDK. Lame.
You joined GameDev.net just to post this?
Wow, you were kind of a jerk to the guy, and are surprised that he deleted your post?
I feel like his response was well-written and well-considered. His quote of
"Maybe you should learn assembly and then re-learn C and realize the difference between low level and high level languages," which I assume is you, is a lame thing to say, regardless of your thoughts on the issue.
It seems to me that you lack the maturity both to be civilized in an online discussion AND to be able to take such reasoned and metered criticism as to why you've been quieted. Which, really doesn't set you much off from the rest of the internet.
It's their house, and you're a guest. Think about that before crapping on their carpet.
PS - I also agree with him about C being low level. I feel like the bar between "low level" and "high level" has moved up a bit since the 1970s. C is almost directly translateable to assembly (which directly translates to machine code), compared to a language like C# and Java in which there is a runtime behind the system keeping track of low-level concepts like memory and the like.

A jerk to the guy? By suggesting he RELEARN something? Man, people need to lighten up I guess. Just because I have a differing view of high vs low level languages, and suggest someone take another look at why, doesn't make me a jerk. If it does, I think maybe people should develop a little thicker skin. Either that, or just ignore me. Censoring the discussion is sad. Its not like I called him an ass**** or anything. But fair enuff, you're entitled to your opinion. I just think I should be too, until I do take it to an uncivilized level, which in my opinion I didn't.
I have got to say I nearly agree with everything others have said in this thread, but m8 you p*ss the mods off and come here to moan about it; that is just sad.
By the way you may want to remove the link you seem to be proud of in the xna forum, as you are breaking the directx user agreement by posting the dll.
excellent move :)
