Wireless internet issue

I just got a Satellite series A205-S4607 laptop with windows vista(which i despise now by the way). I have been trying to connect my laptop to the network my dad already has but it does not seem to work. My laptop detects network, but there is always limited or no connectivity. Ive tried troubleshooting the situation with absolutely no results and need help. My father uses a WPA2 security by the way as well. He has not been able to figure it out either as hes tried doin things such as resetting the ip's n everything. Is there anyone that can help or give any kind of suggestions?

Make you have the correct WPA password. If you don't have the password or it doesn't seem to work, I would recommend resetting the router and reapplying your security settings.

Did he put on MAC filtering and just forgot he did?

Im pretty sure the password is correct, but ill double check. Ive already tried resetting the router and the modem, neither has worked. and there is no MAC filtering either. the same issue happened with the wireless add on for the xbox 360, but i think its just a coincidence. im going to just try to see if customer service might be able to help. but if anyone else has ideas let me know

Try resetting the router or at least removing/changing the WPA password. I await further information.

I have the same issues with my wireless router. While it supports WPA/WPA2, I have to use WPA/TKIP on my own laptop for it to work.

Open the properties of said wireless network, go to the first tab(Sorry, I got a Dutch XP version), and under network verification, put it to WPA-PSK and under encoding put it to TKIP. Save, and try connecting to your network again.

This might be the problem for you aswell, so go it a try.
