OK it sound quite easy. I installed the IIS drivers for Windows Xp and I got something to happen now when I type http://localhost into the Run Tool it pops up with a box to inter a user name and password but I don't know what it is also I would think that if someone logs on to my site they would get the same thing so how do i disable this security window?

No idea on that, I use Apache HTTP and would highly recommend it.

Though hopefully someone with experience could help you out.

(right click)My computer-->Manage-->Service and Applications-->Internet Information Services-->Web Sites-->Default Web Site-->(right click) Properties-->Directory Security (tab)-->Edit (anonymous access and authentication control)-->check "anonymous access"

Also remember that your IP address will likely change. And some ISPs block port 80 (and others) so you cannot do self hosting (they want you to pay them for that).
