As I understand it when I use shaders to draw graphics, the graphics card's hardware does the donkey work. I hear people describe this as being parallel processing. However, when I do the normal Effect.Begin() // drawing stuff Effect.End() how does all this actually work. Does my CPU wait for the graphics card to finish doing its thing or does it all just get pushed into a queue and the CPU keeps on trucking. In other words, is this true parallel processing where each process is acting independently of each other except where information needs to be transferred between them?
