Okay. Here you go:

1. Go to Amazon.com and purchase 3D Game Programming by Alan Watt, any book by Andre LaMothe and a copy of Principles and Practice.

2. Fire up Google.com and type 3D Game Programming and read what the engine gives you.

3. Play a few 3D games and try to work it out for yourself.

Can I ask a question in return? Does you mother still feed you?

No? You learnt how to do it yourself. So don''t expect people to spoon feed you here either.

Come on, this has obviously got to be a joke. Even gamers know that good 3d games take years to make and certianlly can''t be explained in a post. Don''t they?

hi!
well , i would be a bit more serious from the others , well , as Blackstream said , its take years to develops 3D games , its not easy , and it requaire years of programming expirience , i dont know your programming skills , but if you''re a newbie , u should start from small things , go to "New? start here" link on the top of the page

well , i dont know how more i can help , coz its not an objective question

Now, please write BEST book programming about DX.
I''m begginer in DX, but i haven''t problem with VC++ programming.
So, please write BEST book programming by FULL information,
for example: price - author and ...etc.

I''ve got a better idea - learn opengl =)
There''s a load of great tutorials - I recommend nehe.gamedev.net - and see if you like it. You''re not going to find any decent free dx resources...but if you do, post a link cuz i''m interested too =)

I don''t think i''ve ever read a good dx book. I had some horrible sams dx7 book, by dunlop. DOn''t buy it. half the code didn''t even compile, i had to debug it myself.

ammm.... look , everyone and his needs , i think u should go to amazon.com , search there for Directx , it will give u huge list of book , choose the best one , there are lots of feedback on each book from people who read the specific book already , by that u can decide if u want it

anyway , good luck with Directx .

Ok, sjelkjd.
I see nehe.gamedev.net, that have really many good sources and articles.

I have question of you, Do you mean OpenGL > DirectX ?
If i choose OpenGL programming, can you help me ?
How can i download lastest version of OpenGL ?

On the contrary, my good man:

I use DirectX 8 for 2D, and I wrote a couple of tutorials about it. There''s a link in my signature to the site. Wazoo (www.wazooenterprises.com) wrote some tutorials about Direct3D 8 for 3D, and DrunkenHyena is converting Nehe''s tutorials to Direct3D 8 (www.drunkenhyena.com).

Windows Game Programming for Dummies was good, and people tell me Tricks of the Windows Game Programming Gurus is better. Teach Yourself DirectX 7 in 24 hours is utter crap, like you said, and the worst D3D book I''ve read. I read part of Advanced 3D Engine Programming with DirectX 7 (something like that) in a bookshop, it was good (progressive meshes and Inverse Kinematics), but a bit advanced for a beginner.

Just because you''re outnumbered doesn''t mean you''re wrong.

I was wondering if people had read "Cutting-Edge Direct 3D Programming" by Stan Trujillo as this is what I''m using to learn DX.

Look at the scope of those. You can make texture mapped cubes with alpha blending. Take a look at Nehe:
texture mapping, blending, camera control, display lists, text, fog, quadratics, masking, lines, multitexture, stencil buffer!!!, and bezier pathces. Show me one good dx8 tutorial which uses the stencil buffer.

Sorry, i think i was a little vague. There are certainly decent directx books out there, but nothing for dx8 yet.
Windows game programming gurus was all 2d.

Unfortunately the opengl superbible is not available online anymore =(

Writing a 3d game does take years, I have been programming computers for over 18 years I started cracking the copy protection on games on the Amiga etc. It has taken me a couple of years to be able to do anything remotely interesting as far as a 3d game is concerned, however this is mostly with Allegro, and I am now learning Direct X 8 (AH!) and Open GL (Better).

One of the best books I have found that will help you get into the game development arena is The Black Art of 3D Game Programming by Andre Lamothe, absolutely AMAZING.

Another way is to download some of the 3d engines that are available on the net and see how other people do it, this is kind of defeating the object of learning it for yourself though, but it will give you some interesting reference material at least.

Ok,
For start, i must know, i should programming by DirectX or OpenGL ?
Which is better ? Why ?
Which is faster ?
Which have quality ?
and ...etc.
So please write to me, information about both.
And does your book(3D game programming by lamonthe) is about DirectX or OpenGL ?

Before the war begins, let me say that DirectX/OpenGL is all a matter of preference..neither one is faster(although some video cards are designed for one or the other, so some cards might do better with DX, some better with OGL), and they both have similar capabilities..

Most people I know prefer OpenGL, it''s easier to learn, very straightforward, and multi-platform..DirectX only runs for windows, is a much more complicated api, and is much harder to start with..

When you get more advanced with 3d, I''d suggest learning both api''s, but I''d definitely advise starting with OpenGL..

The Lamothe book has nothing to do with DirectX or OpenGL..it explains doing the math yourself from the ground up, and is one if the best programming books I have ever read..if you read this book all the way through(and LEARN while you read), you will have a SOLID foundation in 3d programming...the book demonstrates, in detail, writing a 3d game from scratch..

If you can write a 3d game from scratch, you''ll have no problems using OpenGL or DirectX..

Please check out the NeHe demos, there are enough tutorials to get you started with opengl programming, but I highly advise the Lamothe book...opengl and direct3d are basically a bunch of 3d math and graphics functions, just tools to do the job..before you can use the tools properly, you must understand 3d..GET THE LAMOTHE BOOK!!

OK, thanks a looooot for your help.
Now, i have more information about DirectX and OpenGL.
