Team Name: The team's name will be decided on once a client developer is discovered. Project Name: Hax (Temporary Name) Brief Description: Hax will be a massively multiplayer hacking simulation. Unlike Uplink and Cypher this game will involve the players physically typing commands into their console to find and exploit semi-random vulnerabilities. Target Aim: This would be a niche game for computer users who want a slightly more realistic and entertaining hacking experience without having to learn the complex reality computer security. Compensation: The client developer could be paid or, preferably, work with the collective goal of making the game protifable. Technology: The server is written in C#.NET 2.0 and is currently stable, serving as a chat server. The client can be in any language for any platform as long as it can communicate with the server using TCP/IP. Talent Needed: Client Developer - Should be a competent programmer in their chosen language with at least a basic, working, knowledge of Socket programming. The client developer would be in charge of producing the client which will reside on the player's computer. There is also a website developer position available but this is not vital. Contacts Reply here if you are interested in developing a client or being the sole client developer for this project. Previous Work by Team My previous work has all been corporate and so I can not link to it. I have developed various bespoke applications for billing systems, an instant messenger, IRC client and various ASP websites. Additional Info I am currently training for an MCAD C#. Feedback All - reply here.

You know, I have considered this type of game and thought it would be fun. There's only 1 problem, the game would undoubtably be casual, and who would put fourth the effort to learn all those complex commands?

It took me several years to be a proficient programmer. Do you honesty think anyone's going to stick to the game that long?

EDIT: I am very, very fluent in programming logic and visual basic (quick development application). If you ever needed any help, I could certainly offer. Plus, sometimes it's cool to return to your "beginning" days.

Thank you for your response, TheKrust. My goal is not to have a totally realistic 'hacking' experience, as stated it will be an "entertaining hacking experience without having to learn the complex reality or computer security"

I intend to produce a basic command set which people can use to hack in to each other. Most hacks will be easily learned and enacted but some will be complicated. The main focus of the game would be quickly hacking into as many computers as possible to obtain money per tick (10 minutes). The other players would be doing the same thing and manually protecting their own systems by viewing the log files to see what activity there has been.

Hopefully you now understand what I meant. If you are still interested please reply or PM me on this forum and I will give you the details for the IRC channel.

Cool idea. It's refreshing to see a MMO design project around here which is actually achievable in scope. Good luck!

You should have the ability to write your own hacking scripts where users can buy and sell them over am irc channel.
