Irn Bru

Okay, I have a friend who is insisting that I have to try Irn Bru, that I really missed out when I didn't have any on my Scotland trip. Any corraberation? Anything guidance on its flavor? I can order a 12 pack from a distributor in South Carolina for about $26, including shipping. Is it worth it?
Irn Bru is good — but make sure it's chilled. Otherwise it's too sweet for words.
Personally I still prefer Diet Coke over it, but I know some folks that swear by it.

Irn Bru is awesome. And it's a fearsome hangover cure if it's cold.
What size is the 12 pack? Are they 2 litre bottles, or 500ml or something? You should try it at least once. As for what it tastes of, it tastes of.... Erm, irn Bru [smile]

Be warned that it will rot your teeth far faster than any other drink known to mankind [smile]
On that note, be aware that if you spill it then you will have trashed whatever you spill it on — it's pretty much impossible to get completely out. It would make an excellent dye if you wanted bright orange something.
Quote:It just tastes really good. Same concept as Coke-cola. And it's a "Scottish drink", sort of non-alcoholic buckfast :P

Second, after reading the Wikipedia page I can't figure out what the deal is with this drink. Is it some kind of energy drink (a la Monster or Bawls?). Or does it taste really good?
Quote:Yes. I'm drinking it now [smile] I can see why someone would say there's barley in it, but not seaweed.

It just tastes really good.
Seriously? :)
"One of the key ingredients is said to be barley while another rumour holds that seaweed is a major contributor to the taste."
-Wikipedia
I think it tastes a bit like Tizer myself, but I haven't had any for many years (both Tizer and Irn Bru).
It's made from girders anyway, everyone knows that.

Quote:Well, it was rather a whirlwind tour of my own design. I got to see a lot of really great things in Scotland, but there is no accounting for everything a single country has to offer in a single week.

I am actually amazed you didn't have Irn Bru while you were in Scotland.

Not sure I'd personally pay $26 for a 12-pack of it (you can get it from any local store here), but it is nice. Be warned that it will rot your teeth far faster than any other drink known to mankind [smile]
Eh, I went ahead and ordered it. If it turns out to be manky, I can foist it on a few friends. If I like it, I can order it by the case and save on shipping.
OMG! This stuff really is phenominal!
I wonder, what is the caffiene content in this stuff, because I am reaaaaly tweaking right now, and that is kind of rare these days.

"Made In Scotland from girders"
Tastes like it too [wink]
Seriously though, it is an aquired taste. Like Marmite, your either hate it or love it. Or get used to it. [smile]

I probably could've predicted this reaction.
Maybe I should order some up.
It will make my friend happy. She was worried I would "shout" at her if I didn't like it.

Don't order it yet - I have seen it in Superstore (in Edmonton, I think). Mind you, it's been a while since I have seen it, but I haven't exactly been looking for it. But yeah, check out the local grocery stores first.
