Okay, I know this may sound dumb but I'm wondering where I can exchange a 5000 Japanese yen bill? I live in a small town and there is no currency exchange nearby as far as I can google. I'm wondering if anyone knows of other places like bank, supermarket, etc that will exchange it for me? I got it in Japan when I lived there for several years and was planning on saving it but now am down on my luck and desperate for cash so I need the $50 or so dollars I can get from it.

You already said it ... a bank will probably take it.

And if you're desperate for 50 bucks, may I suggest canceling your internet connection.

Yeah but the town I live in doesn't even have a public library let alone free internet so I wouldn't be able to make the little bit of cash I am making right now selling my stuff on Ebay.

Ok after some more googling I finally found it.
I don't know why they make it so difficult to find?
this is the google search term I tried.
"bank of america+can I make a deposit with foreign currency"

Maybe it's not a popular thing to do?
