Hello there. I am brand new to this site and just wondering what are the chances of getting a postion in a team as a story developer? Also wondering what type of things I would need to add to my "resume" if I have never worked on a real project before. Note: I am not looking for any type of pay. Just looking for a chance to work with a team and build up experience, so maybe I can get my name on some projects Thanks Guys! [Edited by - AshKetchummm on August 12, 2007 11:08:26 PM]

There are always teams looking for writers. The best thing you can do to advertise yourself, in my opinion, is to supply samples of work in your resume here so that interested parties can see what you're capable of. Two works minimum, and keep it varied--have one that shows your dialogue skills, perhaps, and another that displays your world-building talents (or whatever); be creative!

Okay thanks. But What do I do if I've never worked on any projects before? Than what type of stuff would I advertise?

When I said "two works," I meant two pieces of writing that you've done. These do not have to be from previous projects. You've written a short story before, haven't you? Or maybe you've jotted down a storyline for a game that you had in mind? Post that. Even if it's an essay from school, plenty can be derived about your talent just from that.

If you can, though, some fantasy or sci-fi writing would do well here. Most of the projects on GameDev fall into one of those two realms. So, even if you have to write something new, I'd recommend supplying material related to one of those two genres. And, if you'd like some critique on the story before officially putting it on your resume, create a new post about it in the Writing for Games forum.

Anyway, good luck finding a team! If you have other concerns, feel free to send me a PM. Take care. :)
