Hi, I''m needing a bit of information about when you can (or is it when you are supposed to?) call certain GL functions associated with textures. glTexParameter*() - I see this done around the generation of textures, is this a necessity, if so why? glTexEnv*() - I''ve seen this scattered throughout programs - is there a specific place for it? I think thats about it, any help is appreciated. -Mezz

glGenTexParameter* is generally found before a texture is created. It's used to specify various parameters for the texture, such as what kind of filtering will be used for scaling and how texture coordinates will be interpreted when beyond the [0.0, 1.0] range.

As stated in the MSDN library, glTexEnv "specifies how texture values are interpreted when a fragment is textured." It can appear anywhere and affects textures until you change the glTexEnv* to something else. However, it usually appears before any actually rendering is done and after textures are generated.

Hope that helps.
