I''m new to games programming and would love a brief listing of tools and languages used in the field. Specifically: -pros and cons for various options -industry recognition for the various programming options thanks!

You could probably get a satisfactory answer by just posting your questions here on the board.

Personally I use SDL (usually) for graphics, sound and such and gcc 2.95.2 for compiling code (C/C++). It''s pretty much all I need. CVS seems to be a good tool as well, if you are all (larger) team.

"This album was written, recorded and edited at Gröndal, Stockholm in the year of 2000. At this point in time money still ruled the world. Capitalistic thoughts were wide spread. From the sky filled with the fumes of a billionarie''s cigar to the deepest abyss drenched in nuclear waste. A rich kid was a happy kid, oh..dirty, filthy times. Let this be a reminder."
