This time i am quite desperate and i would be really grateful to anyone who can give help or advice here I have started using C 3 months ago and now we''re expected to hand in a project about it Being overly optimistic and really strecthing my abilities, I decided to do either a program where u take a gif/bmp picture and zoom into it from different angles (to make it look animated) i think the idea is the same as that of doom u know when u come really close to something and it takes a while cos they have to adjust the resolutions of it... well that was one of them and the other was a game of snake that has different picture backgrounds and the color of the snake changes according to the background. These were over ambitious ideas and i don''t know to what degree i was aware when i made them anyway i still dunno which to choose but my problem is that there is 3 weeks , i have no clue where to start, what to do and i can''t find a decent book in the whole city to start so if anyone is will to help please email me at meet_me_now_ok@hotmail.com

heh, youve got yourself in a big mess. I dont know what you were thinking when you came up with those ideas. If your taking a course in c for 3 months, chances are you cant work out of a console application and can only display text not graphics. If you can display graphics you can do anything. You really cant learn Direct X in 3 weeks along with Windows programming and GDI. But you could learn the basics of OpenGL within very little time. If you can buy the OpenGL SuperBible which gets you up with a lighted scene only 150 pages into the book or something like that. If you cant buy a book go to nehe.gamedev.net
I do not suggest you just skip 2d development and the fundamentals of gamedesign, but since your time is limited start reading now.
bad!

I''d go with the gif loader. I think it will be easier for you to do since you probably don''t know enough C/C++ to work on a game right now. Before writting a game, you need to really know what you''re doing in C/C++...

one more li''l thing (just to add a pinch of salt to the wound)
we''re taking it in unix the only graphics i can use are from the Xlibrary
i did do some drawings and stuff using C but they''re just basic 2d drawings
nothing to do with taking a pic and manipulating it
thanx again
