Ok, this has been happening for a while now... Ever since I built my parents a new computer (with a 56k modem), I get disconnected from my ISP about every 10 minutes or so. I thought it was because my dad got a really shitty modem, but after getting a better USR modem, I still have the same problems This computer is on Win98, and the previous one had NO problems like that with a 33.6 modem... Any ideas? Currently consolidating my power... Commander M (a.k.a. Crazy Yank, digitalp1aya, and countless other things) http://commanderm.8m.com CmndrM@gdnmail.net

WEll, if you have a company called execpc..no wait its vayager.net...no wait its Corecomm. Well then, wait till you are near the end of your paying period call them up and shout into the phone " *deep breath* I would like to end my service... ...thanks, oh yeah, SCREW YOU!!!!" Then go get Roadrunner. cuz it costs about as much...assuimng tou have and get rid of a second phone line...

I''m just ranting, ignore me...

Verify the phone line supports 56k. Do a search for "56k line test" and you should find an article at usrobotics.

I had someone call HP with the same problem. Just having the modem plugged into the wall would cause static on the line even with the computer completely unplugged.
