Since all my openGL programming file have been erased by a virus, I thought that I just as well might try DirectX. I checked microsofts directX page to find the sdk download, however it''s a bit to big for me to download. Do I need any more files than the libs and .h files? Anywhere I can download only the stuff that I really need to begin with? Sorry if you hear this question often, but I did a quick search and could''nt find anything about it... Thanks

All you need are the DirectX runtimes (which you probably already have), then the libs and headers. Unfortunately I went to look at the DirectX site to find the partial downloads URL, and it looks like the smallest partial download they have is 45MB, still pretty bad for anyone using dialup. (Why don''t they have the the small lib/header only download like they had for DirectX 7?)

If you don''t want to go through such a long download, I''m not sure what to recommend. If you were planning on getting a book on DirectX, most of them come with the SDK on a CD. Otherwise, I think Microsoft will send you the SDK on CD for the price of shipping and handling, but I''m not sure.
