Hi all, While I am an experienced programmer, the only games I've done have been very small scale and nothing really of note (read: still kind of a newb when it comes to gamedev). That said, I do hold a degree in math/CS/software engineering, so designing/writing software is no stranger. Primarily languages include C/C++ in addition to .NET-based languages, to VB6, to Java, to scripting languages such as Python and TCL/TK. That said, I'm looking to hopefully get a hold of a team/some other devs who share an interest in military-based games (not run-n-guns or anything like that, per se). I'm not expecting too much to come of this as I spend a good deal of my life at work, but, something casual would be great. One of the things I miss from old games was the sense of accomplishment, e.g. not just being awarded medals/promotions but being awarded them for specific things (e.g. Wing Commander) and having them viewable on a uniform. Games I've really enjoyed that are more modern include Full Spectrum Warrior, the Brothers in Arms series and other, turn-based sims. Even World in Conflict was rather enjoyable, and I'm not a big RTS fan. I know this seems a bit all over the map but I thought I'd finally just "get it out there," so to speak. If anyone's interested or wants to take me on in a casual way, respond to this post and I'll drop my email address. I know I still have a fair bit to learn but what better way than this? Like I said, I've tried on my own before, but I'm terrible with art and lose motivation in the vacuum of a single-man development team. Thanks, all!

Give me an e-mail ... I'm burned-out on RPG cookie cutter games. Though, the only games I do stick with are military based, FPS, FPS/Strat, RTS. Open-ended entertainment always seem to dominate.

On the Dev front, I'm in the same boat as you ... perhaps all indie developers. As an operational manager and topped with a family ... limits my contribution time. Which could change soon as my wife will be a ... police officer ... soon ... ohhh joy. So, I may be in luck as we have talked about my desire to quit and go full time for my game-art degree. Something which I should have done years ago. Anyhow, drop me a line and lets see what can be made of this.

Hello,

Have a good look at our project :

Don't worry about being a newb to gamedev - if you are handy with c++ and have a maths/comp sci degree (as I have too :)) then you'll pick it up quickly and could become a real asset to the team.

Cheers,
Pete

Hey..

Sounds like we have similar interests and I'd be interested in collaborating. I've got an idea for a browser based game something like what you're describing that I've been thinking up for over a year now.

The casual thing is fine.. I'm planning on dedicating a lot of time to the project but I too have a day job (I'm in the Military.)

PM me with a description of what you're thinking so we can talk more
