Exporting X animation from 3d studio max
Hi, I builded in 3d studio max a character with a cloack, then I animated it: the character with bones and the cloack with a ffdbox. In 3d studio it works correctly.
Then I exported to the X format with Panda, and the character moves correctly, but the cloack remains blocked.
How can I animate the cloack and obtain that the animation will be correctly exported in the X format with Panda?
Hi,
I am not familiar with the .x-format, but the reason why your cloak doesn't animate is possibly that you used vertex animation (or vertex morphing as some people like to call it) to animate it and possibly .x-format doesn't support it. That is, when exporting, the exporter exports only the shape of the mesh at time frame 0 (or the shape without any modifiers).
It is very likely that you will need to use other methods of animation for the cloak such as skin & bones.
You could implement cloth system to your game, but then the animation wouldn't be so easy to control + you'd need to specify some kind of constraints for it so that the cloth wouldn't penetrate the character.
Good luck!
