I have recently begun programming an online game and I have realized that the way I am programming my game now is very inefficient and causes a lot of bugs. So I was wondering if anyone would know of any online resources or books about online game programming. Any help would be much appreciated.

Online game programming really doesn't say very much. Is it a browser based game? What language are you using?

I am using c# and it is going to be a 2D overhead view game. But I don't need help with the specific code, I need help with the problems that arise when creating an online game like how to create keep clients consistent with each other and the server while preventing lag. Basically any resources on the architecture of online games is what I am looking for.

Prevention(and elimination) of bugs is done if you consistently design and document your project and working in a high level language, which focuses on getting things done instead of having to do lots of background work(C++ vs C#/Java for instance).

It also takes a lot of practice to become a good programmer in terms of writing low-bug count code.
