Im useing one of frank Luna's code projects as a template for my game, just to get started, by the end, it will look completely different. But ive come across an issue with DirectInput, ive noticed that alot of people say dont use it, and just use msgProc(), as direct input just takes extra resources and doesn't give much extra. So im in the process of setting this up, but as osme of you may know, frank lunas code works by creating a win32 window(), which sets up all the boring stuff, and then in the main code he derives from that his directx app class, so that all the stuff that is generally set up once, is out of your main code, cleaning things up a little. SO the outcome of this is obviously that the msgProc()code is in the parent class, and this is what i need to take in my keyboard/mouse input. BUt all the code that uses the results from the keyboard/mouse input, is in the child class, such as the camera movemnt, navigation controls etc etc. so what would be the best way, of accessing my child class varibles, from the the parent class methods? My thoughts are maybe haveing a pointer to a the child class as a varible in the parent class, and then iniating this pointer on the initialization of the child class, so that when im in the parent class methods, and can access data in the child classes. My other thought is just to rewrite the code, and not have this parent class, any thoughts?
