Team name: There is no team yet, the original developers are Cateia Games - http://cateia.com/ Project name: The Kings of the Dark Age (KODA) Brief description: Turn-based strategy game with real-time strategy battles. Kind of Heroes of Might and Magic an Age of Wonders. Target aim: Open source game, licensed under the GPL (code and media) Compensation: Nothing of substance really. Technology: Only open source libraries and tools. Portable language (probably C++ and Python) Talent needed: Programmers, cross-platform programmers, programmers who can read Visual Basic 6.0 Luckily, all the art will be available under GPL. Team structure: No team has been formed yet. The developers of the original game might help, this is being discussed at http://cateia.com/games/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=41&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=10 I (qubodup) am not an experienced programmer, I will do some Python, if the main developers settle for it, but the only thing I can really be useful with is management (building web site, assembling tools like IRC channels, wiki, forum, code repository etc. for development) MaximB is somebody who probably will want to offer his services for coordination. I did nothing but working a lot with websites and designing some. Of course the original developers are experienced. Released a bunch of commercial games. I can't help as I don't know VB and have never developed for Linux, but I wanted to give my recommendation to using Python with the pyglet library, rather than pyOpenGL or PyGame. It will vastly increase your productivity as it can handle all the windowing, graphics, sound, and input with much less complicated code compared to other frameworks. If you decide to use pyglet you should go onto the pyglet mailing list and try to find available/experienced devs who meet your VB->Python->Linux requirements.
