Now that my 21 days of Learning C++ in 21 Days is up, what''s next for me to learn to get into making emulators, roms, & virtual machines? Because I can already create fabolous C++ programs & 3D games. Thanks!
Learn _everything_ about the hardware you want to emulate. If you want to write a NES emulator, go download and read all the NES tech info. If you want to write a PC virtual machine, get a few good books on computer architecture. You''ll probably want to learn assembly language (for whatever platform you are emulating).

Oh. My. God. Again it begins...

rodney.. I''d like to see some of these "fabulous C++ programs & 3D games" you have made.

...

What more is there to say?
So soon? *sigh*

Go read and work through ALL examples of Andre LaMothe''s "Windows Game Programming for Dummies."

Come back in 21 days.

You can create them or code them?

Cut and Paste coding isn''t really programming.

Now when I''m searching for hardware information on different consoles, what would I type to find information abouth the hardware of different consoles? For instance, NES, N64, SNES, Genesis, Saturn, Gameboy, Dreamcast, & Playstation.

I know it might take me a while for me to develop the much better consoles (N64, Playstation, & Dreamcast), but hey this is my dream to become a programmer that can create roms, emulators, virtual machines, 3D games, & programs.

So please help a brother out. Thanks!

Rod, after reading a "21 days tutorial", if you are able to efficiently grasp the concepts of Advanced Inheritance, Polymorphism, Templates and overall Object-Oriented Design in a couple of days without the need to practice or test your skills and claim to be able to make fabolous 3d games ; I can NOT understand how a simple internet search engine is stopping you from advancing further.
...
Must. Stay. Calm.

A good starting point is probably to add "Emulation" or "Hardware" after the name of the system.

I''m leaving before I explode.

Oh look, it''s Rodney again. Every post I see with the name rodneyldixon on it says something in the area of
"I need to know where I can learn to program . P.S: I can already program a Quake clone!". Enough madness! Where are these ''fabulous C++ programs and 3d games'', anyway, RODNEY?! Oh well...Now onto a more friendly note.

Rodney: A 21 days book is most likely NOT going to be enough to start what you seem to be aiming towards. But look around, ask some people who actually HAVE programmed roms and emulators before...even though they probably won''t respond...but hpox was right. All you have to do is a simple internet search. If you''re able to create ''fabulous C++ programs & 3D games'', then it shouldn''t be too difficult to learn! But I doubt that you can even setup a window. I think it''s sad that you''re afraid to admit to us that you aren''t anything more than a newbie. It brings a tear to my eye...(ok not really...)
