Having upload problems?

OK, so a bunch of people have had problems uploading their entries. I'm willing to give a bit of leeway to people when it comes to getting entries up on top, but only if they've registered their submission. That is, you have to go to the contest page, hit 'Your Entry,' and fill out the fields on the form - just don't attach any files. Make sure that goes through first, and then try editing the entry to attach the files. I'm contemplating whether it's worth extending the deadline by a few days to get the problems sorted out. For now, assume that it's not changing and you've got all of 2.5 hours remaining.

Wait a minute... the contest rules page says the deadline is April 3, 2008, at 2300 hours EST and it's 2313 hours(less one hour for daylight saving time) on April 2, 2008 EST here in the Eastern USA (according to http://www.time.gov/timezone.cgi?Eastern/d/-5). There should be 23 hours remaining, not 2, right? I'm confused. Oh crap!

It's never a good idea to post things like this after midnight, when the date is misleading... [smile]

Still, I'd recommend registering your entry now, even if you wait until the last minute to actually upload your game.

I PM'ed Superpig a link to a private server for downloaded earlier today, but I also uploaded my entry to the below site both for good measure and in case anyone wants to try it out:

Thanks to XDigital for finding a decent free hosting site.

Uploading the files to the registrated entries does not work either (Browser Ubuntu/Firefox, Ubuntu/Opera, Windows/Explorer and Windows/Firefox). Any clue?

BTW, it's not your browsers or internet connection that's causing the problem. It's a setting on gamedev's server. They are running IIS and there is a timeout for script execution. My entry was about 55MB which would take about 15 minutes to transfer on my connection. It seems that they have the timeout set to something a little less than ten minutes.

Well I got several different error and all my knowledge about browser, server, client, ftp and stuff is so little, that I thought it could be crucial.

Hmmm, its half past ten now. Only one and a half hour to go and I'm not able to upload my packages. I'll go to bed now - have to work tomorrow. Well... Good luck to all those who were able to participate...

@Superpig, the links in this post are the latest versions. Please add those to the contest entries.

Hey. I have registered my entry, Space Ponies, but I am having trouble uploading my game. It's taking forever, and it's oly 8 mb. I tried uploading with satellite, but that didn't work. Now I'm trying with dial up, which is working better, but I still don't know if it will work or not. Tomorrow, however, I will be able to use high speed internet at an office. If it doesn't work tonight, just how leniant will you be, superpig?

I'm assuming good faith on the part of anyone who's registered and is clearly trying to get their entry in on time.

There was another technical problem - the webserver ran out of disk space (!) - but it's fixed now. I see at least three entries that still don't have submissions attached, so please give it a go...

Hi Superpig,
Is there something I must know? Maybe a little advise on how to continue? Have you already downloaded the versions I posted in this thread? Shall I wait some more days until its possible to upload files bigger than 60MB? Quoting the Rules: "There is no size limit on entries, but please be reasonable." I know, 70 MB is much bigger, than most of the other contest entries - but I did not thought that it is too large, otherwise I would have ask you... maybe I was wrong.

Ack, sorry - yes, I've downloaded them, but I didn't upload them yet because I was going to rework the code slightly to let me attach both files to a single entry (instead of having separate Windows and Linux) entries. Sorry, I'll get them up there soon.
