Cannot install ClanLib

Hello everyone! I tried both MinGW, VC6, and VC9. NONE works! MinGW: I get to ./configure, it tells me DirectInput isn't installed even though it is. Visual Studio 6 and 9: I compile and run the Configure tool, but when I open the workspace/solution, neither of the projects exist. Does anyone have a pre-compiled version that I could borrow? Thanks in advance.

$ ./configure --prefix=/mingw --disable-shared CPPFLAGS=-I/mingw/include/dx8

How come the answer is always the first thing I try after posting on a forum?

And I had tried that command already. That's what makes it weird.
