Hello everyone! I was thinking of trying this forum for finding my game a new artist. Rollo is a platformer for mobile phones, which can also be played on a desktop computer. Currently the project is quite far in programming (almost completely finished), but is lacking in the art and content department (levels). I used to have a graphic artist working on the project, but she started studying artistrystuff(tm) so she no longer has time to work on Rollo. The game has a cartoony kind of look to it, and I would love to retain most of that look, so the graphics won't have to be done all over again.. Unless you're really dying to do that :D To go forward, Rollo needs some new tilegraphics and perhaps some new enemy and other graphics needed to make the story go forward. So, what I'm looking for is a pixel artist who can make small graphics look good and still keep the files small. I have some png-crunchers so you don't have to do miracles, but no 24-bit png's :P I'm quite sure you want to see what the game looks like, before anyone is interested any further, so take a peek. It's an animated gif sized around 4 megabytes: Animated Gif of Rollo You can also download the game from http://hunttis.fsck.fi and try it out, you can play on your desktop computer as long as you've got a recently new java. If you intend to play it on your phone, have a relatively high-end MIDP2.0 capable device handy. Ah, right.. the game is free and intends to stay that way, so the only glory available for this project would be your name(s) in the credits :D You can catch me by leaving me a private message here, but the best way to contact me would naturally be by e-mail, which is my nickname followed by @fsck.fi And even if you're not interested in doing graphics, tell me what you think of the game! Thanks a bundle for your time :)
Greetings Hunttis, i'd say your game looks pretty good (and the fact that its nearly complete is a definite bonus). You should realize however that Gamedev is a community consisting mostly of programmers (and that you should post in the Help Wanted section for such things). While some artists do frequent this place, your much more likely to get responses in places where they usually hang out, for example Pixeljoint, DeviantArt, and Pixelation as well.

Best of luck with your project.

Hi, thanks for the reply, the tips and sorry about the obvious breach in local forum etiquette.

I will post my help request to the proper forum using the template given there. :)
