Ok, i have finally made my own websites, that is constantly being upgraded, but if you want to chat with me about my site, go to quickchat and ask questions about my site. Otherwise, you can ask here and I will answer. Otherwise, here is my site: C++ Site Please remember, I will be making more changes, and will keep making the site bigger and bigger. Otherwise, Here is reasons why you should see it: C++ tutorials for beginners, 5 different off-topic quickchat rooms, Opengl tutorials, (When I learn more about it) post your own games on there for others to see, news and updates to currently inform you of the newest changes, a games place for a few random games, and games of the month made by people like you to be posted on there for anyone to play, and much, much more! Please, if you have any questions, ask me and I will answer.
What are you aiming for here? Do you want feedback on your site or are you just advertising it? If this is just an ad, it belongs in the announcements forum.
If you want feedback (is that what you mean by "ask me and I will answer"?), is it about the site design, layout, content? I'm not much of a site designer, but the one tutorial on the website is littered with incorrect information. #include does not link a library. cout does not stand for C (as in the language) output. system("PAUSE") is generally considered a bad thing to teach beginners to rely on from the start.
Anyway, good luck with your site and please clarify what you want from us.

I am trying to see if this site is worth signing up on, before I do the advertising. I just wanted to know if i could make any changes, and I think by the way Im adding xoax.nets tutorials, they are pretty good for learning several things. but no, Im not advertising yet, I didnt know where else to put this...

To be perfectly honest, the site is not worth signing up on. I've visited the site one time and I've seen 100 percent of the site content.
If you want suggested improvements, I would say to spend a long time focusing on quality content before you even worry about the site itself. Forums don't count. To get worthwhile forums, you need a large community, and to get a large community you need the right content to draw them in. It looks like you're just making a site because you want a C++ website. There's nothing wrong with that. There's a lot to be learned from designing and maintaining a website. Just don't get your hopes up and expect it to be the next GameDev! :)
I doubted it would, I just started making a website and wanted to see how good I was at it. I think Ill look for tutorials on making good websites =). Thanks for the comments though!
What do you think qualifies you to write C++ tutorials for beginners?
Im not, that was just to test out the rapidshare sight. I wanted to try it out.
What is there to sign on? The "QuickChat" opens up 5 chat rooms and some kind of music thing. I quickly clicked back after about 3 of them loaded. There appeared to be only 2 or 3 randomly named people on there. Not very useful. The tutorials section was nothing more than plain text stating URLs to other sites, I can't even click on them so they even fail at linking (which appears to be their purpose). The overall design looks like a downloaded template and has no real focal point for the eyes. The menu is dark and faded, and the text is large and hard to read.
You may want to take a step back and re-think how you are going about things here. My suggestions:
1) Learn how to write proper html. I get 66 errors on your home page alone -- this makes your browser less accessible to lesser used (and some commonly used) browsers.
2) Learn about general usability for websites. In order for your users to feel good about being at your site, you have to design your site based on what most people do. Your eyes are naturally attracted to a high contrast color. When used sparingly, this allows you to get the users focus to -- for example -- a navigation menu, or a paragraph of information that they really need to know. Between the Christmas countdown control (...) and the heading on the main page, the rest of the site fades out, much like when someone shines a light into your eyes while your reading a book. Nomatter how hard I want to read the body of the home page, I keep looking at that stupid counter (and finally gave up).
3) Get unique content, or introduce a new idea. When I need to learn something, I google it. Google searching most of the known internet, and is typically good at showing me any tutorials or examples I'm looking for. The only way your site would be useful is if you can do that better, or faster.
4) Don't rely on a community when you have none. Gamedev's forums are useful because of the large amount of people who visit them. If 5 people see your site an hour, I wouldn't even bother with a forum at this point.
Just some general ideas.

First off, I can only choose from certain templates - this is a free site maker, freewebs... So I cant add too much. I dont know html either... maybe i might need to learn that. But otherwise, Ill read what you wrote quick...
I have changed the site, and heres my title I brewed up with gimp:
C:\Documents and Settings\todd\Desktop\C++.htm
is it a good title for now?

Sure. [smile]
#1 -Being honest here, while it is great you're wanting to get into web design, please learn usability and accessibility. Your site defies the golden rule of both, mind your contrast. You have menu items that are too low contrast (difference between brightness), you have your christmas counter widget that makes it hard to read the word "Christmas", your chatrooms are useless since i can't read what anyone is saying (because of contrast issues)...etc. It actually makes your site unusable.
#2 -Separate your content. I click on games and am greeted by all the games loading at once. Same with the chatrooms, all load at once. If i click on a "section" labled something, i wish to see a submenu leading me to my options within that menu, individually. Its like asking someone to go to a "movie" section and have all the movies start playing at once, when the viewer really only wants to view them one at a time.
#3 -If you can afford it, buy some cheap hosting. You'll get a faster site, more customization, and you can get rid of the ads. Though, this is your choice, but if you truly are interested in getting into web design, you might as well start on your own server.
Edit: This is not an attempt to plug my site, but my site should at least give you an idea of organization and contrast. However, it has 6 errors when going through a markup checker, a bug in the gallery code...etc. Any site isn't without its own issues ;-)

How's this for contrast? :) Actually I haven't put much time into it yet, but I couldn't resist!

Yeah, i'd say yours takes the cake for contrast :-)
