Hi, im looking to finally get around to creating a website to showcase my work, and am looking for pointers on where to start. Which web languages should i be using, and generally and tutorials or tidbits or general advice anyone has to offer. My web dev experience is limited to only a small number of modules during college, which involved HTML, css and small bits of &#106avascript. This is a quick website mockup for what i want to acheive: <a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v223/guitarfreak1988/?action=view¤t=mockup-1.jpg" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v223/guitarfreak1988/mockup-1.jpg"/></a> As you can see, im after almost a blog like layout, where i can easily make posts to, with each post appearing in its own little bubble. If anyone has any pointers on where i should start, any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Scott

Do you enjoy web development? Or do you just want a website? If the latter, I suggest that you shop around for a CMS and simply write a template for it. There are tons of open source CMS systems out there. .

I enjoy anything where i can learn something new, this is a project ive had in mind for a longlong time, and atm im taking a small break from the game im working on and decided ill use the time to start researching some web dev.

I shall look into this CMS though, ive never come across it before, so will be something i shall look into tonight.

Thanks

It's a good design. However, you should probably change the color of the text on your banner and buttons. I could hardly see the words "gameXcor studios" on the banner. The color of the background graphics is too close to the text. as for the buttons, I think you should change it to a lighter blue.

I just noticed that myself, when i was making that i was using my hdtv as a monitor, which makes the colors alot more vivid and they were standing out, definatly something that needs to change tho

Constructive criticism: I find it hard to read dark blue on a black background.

Edit: Opening multiple tabs results in posting late in threads :)
