So I am looking for a way to do what intantaction, unity3D and emma3D are doing and basically, to write plugins to load my 3D engine into IE or firefox window, but I am not really sure on where to start.. any tutorials or info?

What you describe is a very difficult task. The sources you listed are teams of people working hard, 8+ hours every work day, for multiple years. It is not something you can just throw together in a weekend.

If you intend to follow the plug-in route, you should start by looking up information on writing plug-ins for the browsers. You will need to write plug-ins for each browser you intend to support, on all platforms. This would include 32-bit and 64-bit for Internet Explorer, 32- and 64-bit for FireFox on Windows, 32-bit Opera on Windows, 32- and 64-bit for about 15 browsers on *nux, a similar number on Mac, and so on.

If you intend to support a wider range of browsers for much less work, you should start by learning how to program for &#106avascript, and how to use the DOM and styles.

I don't think JS is going to let him do a decent 3D engine. If he was willing to write a new engine, Flex or Silverlight or maybe a Java Applet are viable.

I would think doing what you want is easier in IE than other browsers. IE has a lot of unique functionality to do powerful stuff, probably through COM/ActiveX is the recommended route if you are happy just with IE support.
