Hello all, I'm looking for a thread-safe graphical library that can run multiple instances of the same code on multiple windows within the same process. My precise requirements are a library that can display a framebuffer into a window, and accept mouse input. I need that for the GUI part of a VST plugin. The thing about these VST plugins is that many instances of them can be ran concurrently within the same process (the VST host), running the exact same code in parallel in separate threads, the threading being take care of by the VST host. Unfortunately SDL is unsuitable because of how static variables and such get shared, and apparently Allegro would suffer the same problem. So which libraries fit my requirements of display framebuffers in multiple windows, taking mouse inputs and being thread safe enough as to being able to run parallel threads of the same code within a single and same process? Thanks in advance.

Have a look at SFML. I'm not sure exactly what parts are thread safe, but I know it supports multiple windows and I think the framebuffer part, but you will have to take a look into that. It's really easy to use though, a nice upgrade over SDL since it is a C++ library. Hope it works!
