Hi all, just wondering if anyone could suggest a decent video playback api. Ive heard of DirectShow, but seems a bit too outdated now, anyone any suggestions?

There is the Video For Windows api which is fairly low level.

The FFMPEG project contains a decoder/encoder for a lot of multimedia formats, and OpenLibraries can edit those files. These two are powerful libraries used in many applications (i.e. VLC and Jahshaka).
