Congrats on the new project. I've got a few questions for you:
- GD.net has already some MMO postings today, why should people choose yours over the others?
- What's the time-line to finish this project?
- What platforms are you targeting the game for?
Good luck with the project!

"Because our team has not published any previous work, we can't accurately establish a timeline yet."

Quite untrue.Just because you have never published a work before doesn't mean you cannot establish a milestone map or timeline. At the very least, its like writing a shopping list and saying at what time of the day you are going to buy X item, and in what order on the list you are going to buy it.

A timeline of your most crucial milestones is incredibly important, not only as a map of what major things need to be implemented for your project, but in what order.

Making an MMO without a timeline? Nuh uh.

Keep in mind that an in-experienced team may find it difficult to know where to begin with scheduling and what's needed. You might want to spend some time writing down what you want to accomplish by when (i.e. I want to be done writing this post by the end of House M.D.). Even a simple list provides goals and something to work for. If you don't, you could spend a lot of time "designing" and in the end nothing gets done.

Generally (but not all the time) you can break up your development cycle into a couple groups with milestones in each, as seen below:

Pre-Production(proving technology, finalizing your design):
Milestone 1 (due Dec 1):
- Game Concept Finished
- 1 Character Concept
Milestone 2 (due Jan 1):
- Game loads a 3d model

Production(where the fun begins, build your game!)
M1 (due Feb 1):
- Finish Client/Server architecture

Alpha(finishing the game, Mar 1)
- Finish Features
- Polish

Finaling(the worst part, due Apr 1)
- Fix bugs
- Ship game
- Drink beer

Hope this helps, good luck guys!

Since the feedback category wasn't filled out correctly (it is supposed to be a choice between NONE, ANY or ONLY POSITIVE) and since none of the remarks made in this thread were of a particularly poor nature or in bad taste- they stay.

Have you made a mog before?

Edit: Also Ingot, I've observed you reacting in a very arrogant and rude manner towards others in the forum. You've also responded in the same way towards me via PM. Let me remind you that your time here will be limited if you keep this kind of behavior up. I'm only pointing this out for you own good.

Thanks,

Nathan
