Where can I find information on writing a DirectPlay lobby server and/or lobby provider?

The lserver.exe app is a good sample, but the source code wasn't provided on the DX SDK.

The lobby provider SDK was omitted from the SDK. Microsoft's DirectX programmers have during chats stated that Microsoft did so so that they would have a list of had it.

If you are interested in programming a lobby provider, email directx@microsoft.com , and ask for the DirectPlay 5 Lobby Provider kit. (The lobby kit has not been revised since DX5).

Glad I could help,

Additional:

After dispatching a subspace transmission to DXCommand, we''ve been orbiting the fourth planet of the OGL system, and I am under the suspicion that the message has been lost.

"Captain."
"Yes Commander."
"Receiving incoming message from DXCommand on a low priority thread."
"About bloody time! Put it up."
"This is DXCommand. The details of the lobby server application depend on what kind of services the vendor wants to offer. Microsoft® DirectPlay® does not specify how a lobby server should be implemented nor how it should communicate with its users'' computers. However, lobby vendors must implement and distribute to their users a lobby client that is compatible with DirectPlay."
"Transmission has ended sir."
"But that''s almost verbatim of what''s in the latest DX Manual! That didn''t help us with our current crisis one bloody bit!"
