There are a few things that can be done to improve your game. Everyone plays slightly differently, here are my tips for the way I play Use good cover - don't hide behind something the thickness of a piece of paper Aim slightly in front of someone when they are running - lag time of bullets Place bouncing bettys in hidden places, not just around corners, use long grass, behind barrels, places where you normally do not look for them. Also use them as a early warning device when sniping. If you have barricaded your self in somewhere when you see that you have injured someone without shooting then you know they are coming. Change your tactics if they don't seem to be working. If you are sniping and cant seem to hit go to assault etc. Know the places where you can be sniped and where you can snipe from. At the start of each game everyone will run a gauntlet as this is the only time that the enemy knows where you are. Use this and don't fall foul of it. If attacking a flag do so with others especially if there are dogs with you close. Pay very close attention to the sound. Use ear phones if needed. If you have bad accuracy use the aimers on a gun that can be attached. If not use a grenade launcher. Always escape from vehicles when they are nearly dead. When using a tank always aim down the sight. Learn your style of play. If you are no good, keep trying. You will play one game where everything will seem to "click" together. This goes for each type of play and weapon. know your maps. Do not call in artillery until you are 100% sure where the enemy are. Wait for as long as you need Practice. you do get better with time. Ignore being bottom of the pile. No one even looks at it. Never leave a game if you are faring badly. You will still receive points when you finish. Pistols can get you a surprisingly amount of kills. Especially the last one i think it is a magnum. Cook your grenades before throwing. Have patience when sniping and chose your targets well. Don't always go for the bigger one. Go for the one that is more still and always go for other snipers first. If you can see them then they can see you. Aim for the chest with automatic weapons. They will rise high. Kill all dogs even when they are not going for you Be careful when reviving someone. A sniper might have taken the man out and you might still be in his sights. Shoot first and ask questions later

Sorry, thanks for your input but there's something about Call of Duty's multiplayer that I really don't like, can't quite put my finger on it but it puts me off completely.

This holds true for all the CoD games.

CoD 4 was all right, but I agree, there's something 'off' with CoD 5, and CoD gameplay in general. Multiplayer is a different ball game though.

ok, my gripes with CoD 5...

1) enemy aim almost 'telepathic'.
2) AI buddies useless (they do very weak damage, and let enemies go straight at you). They also block you quite a lot.
3) enemies grenade spamming.
4) very scripted, linear gameplay, not much in the way of deviating from the set course.
5) the dreaded infinite respawns, unless you push forward.
5) not much in the way of pure firefights, which often deviates to flamethrowing, rocketing tanks, and other pretty boring frustrating scripted gameplay events. I just want to shoot nazis!

but, it's very well polished, the guns are fun, it's got good ambience, good immersion, sound, ect... The gameplay and level design is just underwhelming for the most part. I prefered the previous COD in that respect, even though they suffered the same flaws (from my point of view).

I think CoD 1 and 2 are brilliant in multiplayer. The newer ones tended to be very balanced in weapon styles and overly confusing to newcomers in my opinion

To me, CoD is about the cinematic experience of the single-player game. The multiplayer is a big "meh"-fest for me, especially considering the fact that I have a real life and can't devote enough time to become an ungodly savant at the game necessary to be at all competitive. Dieing all the time is not my idea of having fun. I also don't find entertainment in the mid-pubescent squeals of "F*** you, Jew."
