Contact Hello there. my name is Cameron Hintz, I'm 14 years old and I live in Canada. I am currently interested in becoming an environment artist (or, a "level editor"), in the future (Yeah, I know, don't get my hopes up eh?). Anyways. I own a fully licensed Autodesk 3DS MAX 09 32-bit (my brother is rich after a car accident that he fully recovered from, and got a load of medical insurance money to boot), and have been experimenting around with it for half a year. I would say I'm decent, as I've modeled Swords, Dinosaurs, a few space ships and am currently working on designing a level for a type of "demo" I am creating to occupy any free time I may have through any day of the week. As I am enjoying creating the environment more than modeling props, animals or characters, I am looking for an engine (I've looked at Ogre but I'm not sure if that's what I need), that I could export my files into so I could create this "demo" of mine. Nothing fancy. I'd just like to be able to move around the level and interact with objects. I'm not big on animating, so i wont put in any characters (they'd just stand there) or texturing, so it will be a while before i texture my level. All I want is to place a controllable camera (like the first-person-view of an FPS) so I could move around the level and pay attention to detail etc. Also: Anybody know of a good texturing tutorial? Notice I wrote "good". I've googled countless words and phrases regarding free engines, but am clueless as to which one is good for me. Anyways; here's some photos about the project i need help with: Renders of a Cargo ship;
As you can tell, im horrible at texturing. Then some screens of me using Silo to model and sculpt the dinosaur and remaining prop ships:
Thanks for any help. Feel free to e-mail me at rumolly@hotmail.com if you have anything to comment on. (I don't check it frequently, though. >5 times a week.) [Edited by - Armonio on December 28, 2008 10:17:39 PM]
