My friend and I are each developing a Google App Engine (http://appengine.google.com/) app locally on our computers. GAE apps are available at http://localhost:8080/ when run locally. We're trying to show each other our progress without having to upload the apps to the actual service. Is it possible to share the site at localhost with another computer? If so: What is the easiest way? What is the best way?

Do you have a router? If so you'll need to forward the ports.

Find out your IP. (Click Here)

http://:8080/

That is assuming that Google App Engine's 'local version' will allow remote connections.

I'm not interested in reading the documentation for you, so you'll have to find out if that is this case (or by trial and error).

I'm working with 3 other software developers on a web project. We each develop locally on our machine. We also have a source control repo on a remote server. When a commit is made, we have the option of checking it out the live web dir on the server. Perhaps this is an option?

Dreamhost has cheap hosting, and offers SVN on even its shared hosting accounts. My experience with them has been very positive.

After having explored a bit more, I've discovered no viable option for what I wanted.

@Kenneth Godwin: Port forwarding doesn't seem to allow access to the local GAE app. I assume GAE just doesn't allow this, as you suggested it might not.

@Karan Bhangui: SVN is a bit extensive for what I'd intended. It also wouldn't have an intuitive way of keeping the same data intact as it was shared.

I think the best option is going to be uploading the apps to the GAE service normally. Thanks for your responses.

Ya...if they offered a 'local version' I doubted they would allow it to act as a normal server. But it was worth a shot.

Best of luck to you. ;)
