Now I have to conter with my mixes :)

That's pretty good stuff you have there ! Too bad it seems to be in mono.

it shouldn't be mono. but i'm unsure. well, that friday will be on a live stream and recorded, so a new mix will be online about in a week. that one will for sure be stereo (as i installed new recording hw in the club myself.. :))

The mixes sound good and I like you animation pieces Steve. Yet it just leaves one question which I am sure people will bite my head of for saying but anyway what licence is this music under? i.e. do you have the rights to distribute it?

it is hosted on beatcast and afaik the owner of beatcast payed for it to be legal to download from anyone. i payed for the right to mix them. he payed for the right to record and distribute it. at least according to swiss law, it should all be fine.

but except riaa style industries, not even musicians normally have a problem, as they like mixing themselves and grew up with mixes from others. but technically, it should be .. quite legal.. :) but ianal.

The mp3 is indeed stereo, but the signal is the same on both channels. I noticed that because I listened to it on my headphones. I quickly checked in Audacity, and mixed the left channel with a phase inverted right channel, and the result was indeed a zero signal (minus encoding artifacts).

Nice, I'll be sure to download it !
well, real mono (signal just on one chanel we would surely have noticed.. :))

but yes, it's possible he recorded in mono. kills a lot of the percieved volume of the audio.. :(

i'll test if it's stereo before recording :)

Nice stuff Dave. Dark and dirty, just like I like it. B) I'm gonna put your mixes onto my iPod so I'll have something new to listen to on my way to work. Thanks for sharing. :)

i feel honoured *sweet* :)

You're right, my mix is pretty chilled out. It's from a happy hour set I played at this trendy club in downtown Seattle. People were mostly hanging out and talking, so I wanted to set the mood with some sexy background music instead of playing some of my bigger tracks from producers like Deadmau5 and Mark Mendes.

you got the style right for the situation :) great. and thanks for mark mendes, i think i can use some of his stuff that friday.. we'll see.
...
i only use ableton live for production (and traktor 3 nowadays for mixing). what do you use *interested*?

nice. fluid.

hmm im confused. did u mix that live in a club with turntable or cd decks or similar or mixed at home with audio software?

I started out using Ableton for production but have recently switched over to Logic. In a lot of ways Ableton is faster and more intuitive, it's just that Logic suits me better because of its versatility and sheer power. I still use Ableton for DJing though. Its so nice having yours hands (and ears) free from the pitch slider so that you can really concentrate on your mixing.

Were you able to get your mix from that one Friday (2/20?) up online. I'd like to hear it if you did.
