hey everyone. I don't know if anyone has this problem but when I first joined this site and got a PM, I thought the flashing thing at the top looked like one of those ads that's full of malware, adware and such. Finally I realized, through the control panel, that I had a message. Maybe I'm just stupid but that "new private message" thing is kind of hard to notice for new people and could pretty easily be mistaken for an Ad. I see them all over myspace and other websites with flashing messages saying "you have a new message". Maybe someone could consider a new way of showing messages? Thanks

I would guess it will have to wait for the upcoming remodel of the site, but an envelope icon with a number next to it would be a much more familiar interface element.

That is true, but considering how few PM's I get, it is a nice change of pace to have a huge blinking object up in the corner that I can click on when I have a message.
Otherwise, I mostly ignore that part of this website, and would miss something less obtrusive.

Agreed... even with the link jumping all over the place I sometimes don't notice for weeks. :-)
