Hi All Im in the middle of a university graphics project, I have done most of what I have to do but I have hit a brick wall. The tasks I am stuck on, is as follows. "Implement an OpenGL program to display three-dimensional triangulated mesh models. The program should allow the user to display the default models available in OpenGL (sphere, cube, teapot) as well as loading models supplied from file." models are shown here> http://info.ee.surrey.ac.uk/Teaching/Courses/CGI/assign_09/ Ok so the default models are easy, but loading the external files are another matter as far as I can tell. is it the same process as loading a .3ds file? So any suggestions? Thanks for reading Scott

Create a tri file parser the format is given already.
For the initial stage use the immediate mode to see if the parser is working ok. Then later on, dump the positions into a vbo.
Use shaders for the shadows and environment mapping.
One more thing, this is your assignment so dont expect too much from others.

Hope this helps,
