I'm having a problem with JAR files. I can't get them to run on every computer. Well, not every computer, but computers with java on them. The that I'm having is that they'll run on some Windows computers, and some Macintosh computers. On others they will not. I know it has to do with the manifest file. This is my manifest file: Manifest-Version: 1.0 Class-Path: . Main-Class: PlatformGame Can anyone more experienced with JAR files tell me why it doesn't work on some computers? Could anyone reading this tell me if http://www.wademcgillis.com/PlatformGame.jar runs on your computer?

Works perfectly for me.
I'm using Windows XP Pro. Service Pack 3, with the latest Java installed.

Can't give you any help on it though, as I don't use Java.

The problem is with the operating system; depends how the virtual machine was installed.

When you double click the jar file the O/S has to know to start the Java virtual machine and pass "-jar filename" as parameters.

On Windows this is setup in Folder Options -> File Types (Don't know about Mac).

You can also try using a batch file using:

java -jar "filename"

But there is also no gurantee the O/S will be able to resolve the java exe.
