What's needed: Java progammer Graphic artist What's wanted: Music composer (midi) General overview: This game is being made for a history teacher who's students do poorly because they don't study. In order to help her I'm making a game in Java (Their computers do not support flash, and it must be embedded) that she can use to educate her students. Unfortunately I work with Visual Basic, and have absolutely no experience with Java. As such, I've decided to ask the GameDev community for help, and believe me, this is not a free job. I will be discussing the budget with her in a few days, so any persons participating in this project will be paid. Application format: Full name: Age: City/state: Zipcode: Skills: Requested position: Expected payment: Other expenses: References: mail to Lanphrost@yahoo.com This may just be the project to get my game design career off the ground, but without a development team I'm sunk.

You may want to think of a game for your English teacher too ;)

Their computers don't support Flash, but they support Java applets? That means they'd all need a JRE installed on a system you can't even get the Flash plugin on? Seems a bit odd to me.

I can't see a teacher being able to afford much, and I'd be careful about taking money for a project where you are unfamiliar with the technology. If it's just to get something in your game design portfolio, why not offer to do it for free, and then it won't be too awkward if it doesn't pan out?

Also, designing interesting educational games is no easy task. Are you sure you can succeed in an area that is already receiving a growing amount of attention from the education sector?

Might I also suggest being open to audio for your music output. There are many methods and solutions for making MIDI-based music sounds more appealing and realistic. There isn't really a need, from what I know, to limiting yourself to solely MIDI output.

That would make the audio sound awfully dated.

Just my two cents.
