Hi, recently when i move my project from one machine to another, mainly in univercity i clean and rebuild the project. This all works but if i click play without changing any code it has to re compile the entire thing again. The same also happens if i change it slightly. Does any one know of any settings which control how the projects build as it is annoying me because it take 4 minutes to compile every time. Thank you

Do you have minimal rebuild enabled? I find it odd that the program has to recompile even if you don't change anything. No guarantees as to whether or not setting that will fix the problem you describe, but it likely *will* cut down on compilation time.

I've had a similar problem at work. One of our MSVC 2005 solutions consists of several static C++ libraries, 1 executable and 1 IDL-compilation project (creates C++ code from CORBA-IDL files). Every time I hit build, the IDL project would rebuild the C++ source files and since some of the other projects depended on the output of the IDL project, you'd end up pretty much rebuilding EVERYTHING.

Turns out the output files list specified in the ILD-project's .vcproj file contained some files that didn't actually get built at all (and that weren't essential to the project either), so every time you built something, the dependency checking system decided that the listed output files were missing and hence the IDL-project had to be rebuilt.
I removed the files in question from the output file list and that fixed it.
