I'm a little over-proud of myself. But it's the first time I've gone from modeling to coding to screen output entirely on my own. 100% my own work. So matter how silly and useless it is, I'm still proud of it. I think I might actually be learning. Slowly. Anyway, here's a link: http://www.mediafire.com/?lmz5dzjtymo It defaults to a "safe" resolution of 800x600. Press escape to exit.

let me know if it's working. I tried to share it with some other friends of mine and it didn't work, so I had to do a crash-course (i.e., google research) into getting my exe files working on other people's computers.

It did not work for me with the following error (pop up window):
test3.exe

The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail.

Event viewer says this:
Activation context generation failed for "test3.exe". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC90.DebugCRT,processorArchitecture="x86",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="9.0.21022.8" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.

So I did the sxstrace.exe (had never heard of this before) and received this after parsing it:

Drat. I know it worked for one person. Maybe I used the wrong dlls or something. But my impression was it should work fine for people with visual studio and directx installed, I just needed to include the dlls for people who don't.

It's supposed to display a rotating flower.

I don't know if it makes a difference but I only have MS Express installed and not the full blown visual studio. I've never seen this error before so I'm searching.

I found an article that explains one possible issue but it may also occur if you compiled it in an operating system other than what I'm using (I have 32 bit Vista).

Edit - close that anchor!

Fire up my laptop, download the newest version of the DirectX SDK and it works!
