So, it has been a very long time since I have programmed. I purchased "Programming Role Playing Games 2nd Edition" way back on its release. The problem with the book was the source code was not edited for Direct X 9.0 and would not work. Back in the day multiple people had a copy of the correct DX9 *.cpp files for the engine. My question is, does anyone have the fixed core files? If so, can you please send them to me? It's a shame I still don't have them, I have probably formatted 20+ times since those days. Any help would be appreciated, I remember his website had no use at all. He did not even respond in his emails, so I would definitely not expect him to years later. Thanks -Bob

You could go to microsoft web site, and search for older DirectX SDK releases in download section. When I needed DirectX 8 SDK for my project, I found it in Summer 2004 DirectX SDK, your could be even older.

P.S. Microsoft website will try to install Windows authencity check plugin and try to verify your copy of Windows, and won't give you any of those older files until you pass the check.

That really does not help my situation. I learn by reading and following correct examples of code. The old code was made with DirectX 8 and poorly translated to DirectX9. To sit and try to fix the countless error would require a lot of knowledge of DirectX 9 (would be TONS of function rewriting), which I am re-learning from the book. The whole point of this book and the 2nd edition, is the transition from DirectX 8 to DirectX 9 for his RPG Engine example..
