So this is just an idea, but maybe with some help it can be worked on. Micro-Warz is a thought I've had in my head for a little while. Basically, the concept is along the lines of Army Men for N64. Multiplayer battles based in levels that are really only one or two rooms. You play a miniature character that can stand on counters, climb up the side of a couch, stuff like that. My idea though isn't to have conventional weapons in the art sense. I'd like to have things like a toothpick bow and arrow, firecracker grenades, and also implement vehicles. It'll have a basic storyline, maybe two factions warring against each other. I'd like to have it multiplayer and team based. It's a pretty simple concept, and it's sort of been done before, but could be done a little better, with some updated technology and free for release on the web. Maybe a quake engine mod or battlefield mod would be appropriate starting grounds. I can offer 3D art & assets, and some help with level design. If anyone is interested in helping out or if they just want to contribute to the idea, feel free to post here. I'm taking all the advice and ideas I can get.

Ideas don't make games. If you are not skilled and very enthusiastic about your idea, then consider joining an existing team.

Well I'm not skilled in a programming sense, but if you read my post I said I could provide art & assets. I've been modeling in 3D for several years.

And to be honest I was just throwing the idea out to see how much interest it would gather. If you have no interest, than I don't see the point to your post. I ask that it's removed if a moderator comes by it.

I think understand where Dalegale is talking about. Your first sentence lacks confident, what you want is to start a team to fulfill your idea and I guess phrases like "just an idea" and "maybe with some help" aren't the best topic sentence.

Also there is a template on the sticky which is helps you provide the information you need to present to us before you ask for help.

Back to your topic, I think a game called battlefield hero is similar to your idea, army men which looks cartoonish and probably using low poly models so they can fit in 64 players in a servers.

And I guess if you really wants to make your mod happen, the best way is to provide some visual, should be no problem if you can model a few character or weapon design.

I know it's frustrating when you are happy to tell the world about something you though would be cool and the only answer you get is peoples trying to discourage you from doing it. Unfortunately, Dathgale is right and you should join a team with an already advanced game and looking for modelers instead. Asking for moderators to delete his post just sound like you don't want to acknowledge the truth.

Only one person doing every 3D assets in a game would need to work way too much. Finding people who are willing to work full-time on code/sound/etc for you and for free is even harder. Most good programmers learned it because they already had an idea in mind and most of them are currently working on it. As you can see on other posts like this, ideas are overflowing, but not final products.

Your idea is not bad (there are commercial games coming out each months who are a lot worst), but it's not perfect either. You want to create a multiplayer first/third person shooter, which has been done thousands of times already. What will your game have better than others? The "miniature" aspect wouldn't change really much to the gameplay itself, only on environment. Just look at Counter-Strike "rats" style maps, it's exactly that and already exist.

I understand where you're coming from, but as I said I'm not in the stages yet of gathering a team. My whole idea is very unplanned so far and I'm in no way ready to lead a team for this project. If I had some solid development plans and some more detailed ideas then maybe I could get the ball rolling and start looking for help.

I do have some art on the way though, check back for that.

I like the idea, although I'd prefer an RTS myself. I imagine it like the scenes from 'night at the museum' where the romans and cowboys are fighting one another.

I think one of the potentially cool elements of a game like that is the 3D nature of it, unlike most RTS games where the action is essentially 2D.

I agree. One of my favorite things in FPS games, and something I try to implement in levels I make for my favorite games, is the Z-axis. That 3D part is essential in a good level, and taking advantage of the fact that it's available makes for a great gaming experience. Any level I fall in love with or build myself, I realize that it utilizes a lot of height. i.e. multiple story buildings with large openings. So you're not always just looking in front of or behind you, you have to look up and down as well.

If this idea of mine comes to fruition, I'll be sure that the levels I provide utilize elevated areas to their fullest.

Good. I neither said you weren't good at your craft nor that you need to be a programmer. My point was that it takes a lot of skill to make a game, and if you want to recruit people, you need to show that you have something to offer, which you have yet to prove. If you can't do that, people will just go and work on their own ideas (you realize that ideas are a dime a dozen, right?).

If you want help developing your idea into a design document, check out the Game Design forum and the Game Design articles. If you want to actually make a game, I still suggest you join an existing team.
